Unity with God: The Power of Commanding Prayer
Verses:Joshua 10:12-14
"Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel."
In this awe-inspiring passage, Joshua's bold command to the sun and moon reveals the profound essence of prayer. It's not about pleading or begging; it's about being one with God. Joshua's intimate unity with God empowered him to speak with authority, trusting in God's sovereignty.
This remarkable event showcases the transformative power of unity with God. Joshua's relationship with God was built on trust, faith, and oneness. His words weren't a request but a declaration of trust in God's presence. The sun and moon stood still, illustrating God's willingness to accommodate Joshua's command.
As we reflect on this account, may we cultivate an attitude of prayer that embodies this intimate unity. May our prayers be characterized by trust, faith, and confidence in God's presence and power.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, help us develop an intimate attitude of prayer, rooted in our unity with You. May our relationship with You be marked by trust, faith, and oneness. Amen.
