Seeking Clarification from God

Verse:Judges 13:8

"Then Manoah prayed to the Lord: 'Pardon your servant, Lord. I ask you to let the angel of the Lord come again to us and give us further instructions.'"

As we reflect on this passage, we see a beautiful example of how God delights in giving us clarification and guidance. The angel of the Lord had appeared to Manoah's wife, announcing the birth of Samson. However, Manoah wanted to make sure he understood God's will correctly, so he prayed for the angel to come again and provide further instructions.

What's striking about this passage is that God didn't feel annoyed or bothered by Manoah's request for clarification. Instead, God heard Manoah's prayer and sent the angel again to provide further guidance. This shows us that God is happy to give us clarification and guidance when we seek it.

We often think that seeking clarification from God is a sign of doubt or weakness. But the truth is that seeking clarification is a sign of humility and a desire to follow God's will. It's a recognition that we don't have all the answers, and that we need God's guidance to navigate life's challenges.

Moreover, when we seek clarification from God, we're not trying to help Him out or make His job easier. Rather, we're acknowledging that He is able to reveal Himself to us in fresh and new ways. We're giving Him the opportunity to speak to us, to guide us, and to direct us. We're not trying to limit God's work in our lives by not asking for clarification. Instead, we're opening ourselves up to His guidance and direction.

As we consider Manoah's story, we are reminded of the importance of seeking clarification and guidance from God. We must not be afraid to ask for help or guidance when we need it. Instead, we should come to God with humility and a willingness to learn, trusting that He will provide us with the clarification and guidance we need.

Prayer:

Dear God, help us to seek clarification and guidance from You when we need it. May we come to You with humility and a willingness to learn, trusting that You will provide us with the guidance we need. May we never try to limit Your work in our lives by not asking for clarification. Instead, may we open ourselves up to Your guidance and direction. Amen.
