Standing Firm on God's Guidance

Verses:"Joshua 17:14-18 - And the children of Joseph spoke unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people...?"

In this biblical account, Joshua faces a challenging request from the children of Joseph. Despite their persistence, Joshua remains steadfast in his decision, directing them to claim the hill country or forest. This exchange highlights the importance of standing firm on God's guidance.

Joshua's unwavering stance demonstrates his commitment to following God's plan. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."

When we seek God's guidance, we must trust His wisdom and sovereignty. Joshua recognized that the decision was not his own, but God's. He understood that flexibility for its own sake can compromise divine direction.

Hebrews 13:9 encourages, "Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace..." Joshua's resolve exemplifies this steadfastness, refusing to waver from God's plan.

In our own lives, we face similar challenges. May we learn from Joshua's example, standing firm on God's guidance and trusting His sovereignty.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, grant us courage to stand firm on Your guidance. Help us trust Your wisdom and sovereignty, even when faced with opposition or uncertainty. May our hearts be established with Your grace and our paths directed by Your wisdom. Amen.
