The Healer's Expectation
Verse:Exodus 15:26 - "He said, 'If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.'"
As we joyfully hail God as our Healer, we often overlook the conditions He sets forth for receiving His healing touch. In Exodus 15:26, God explicitly states that He will heal us if we heed His voice diligently and obey Him completely. However, it's essential to acknowledge that each physical healing has its limitations. Our bodies are mortal, and eventually, we will face sickness and death.
Even with God's healing, our physical bodies are subject to the natural cycle of life and death. At least one sickness will ultimately lead us to our mortal end. Yet, God's healing is not solely focused on physical restoration but also on spiritual transformation.
God's expectation is not merely a casual listening but a careful attention to His voice. It demands a willingness to do what is right in His eyes, to pay attention to His commands, and to keep all His decrees. This is the foundation upon which He promises to withhold the diseases that afflicted the Egyptians.
As we reflect on this verse, we are compelled to examine our own lives. Have we been neglecting God's voice, ignoring His commands, and disregarding His decrees? Or have we been diligently seeking Him, obeying His will, and trusting in His promises?
Let us remember that God's healing is not just physical but also spiritual. He desires to mend our broken hearts, restore our relationships, and revive our spirits. Though our physical bodies may still face limitations, our spirits can be transformed, and our eternal lives can be secured through our obedience and trust in Him.
May our hearts be stirred to heed God's voice, to obey His commands, and to trust in His promises. May we experience the fullness of His healing touch, and may our lives be a testament to His power and grace.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Help us to heed Your voice diligently and obey You completely. May our hearts be attentive to Your commands and our lives be surrendered to Your will.
We thank You for Your promise to heal us, and we trust in Your power and grace. May our lives be a reflection of Your love, and may our spirits be transformed through our obedience and trust in You.
Amen.
