When God Seems Late, He's Preparing to Abide

Verses:Genesis 42:1,2

"When Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, "Why do you just keep looking at each other?"2 He continued, "I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there and buy some for us, so that we may live and not die."

Jacob's life was marked by pain and struggles, and it seemed like God was late in responding to his troubles. Have you ever felt like God is late in answering your prayers or intervening in your struggles? It's easy to feel that way when we're in the midst of difficult circumstances.

But here's the truth: God's delays are not denials. He may seem late, but He's always working behind the scenes, preparing something amazing. And when He finally shows up, He doesn't just make a brief appearance like a guest; He comes to abide with us always, like a loving house owner who comes home to stay.

Guests come and go, but the house owner stays. They know every nook and cranny of the house, every corner of our hearts. They know how to comfort us, guide us, and walk with us through our trials. And that's exactly what God does. He comes late, but He comes to abide with us, to be our constant companion, our rock, our refuge, and our Savior.

In Genesis 42, Jacob's sons returned from Egypt with a glimpse of hope. Joseph, the son Jacob thought he had lost, was alive and in a position of power. This encounter was not just a coincidence; it was a divine appointment. God was working behind the scenes to bring about a miraculous reunion.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for reminding us that Your delays are not denials. Help us trust in Your perfect timing and presence in our lives.

When we face struggles and pain, may we remember that You are always with us, preparing us for Your divine intervention. May our hearts remain hopeful, knowing that You come late, but You come to abide with us, guide us, comfort us, walk with us, and be our constant companion in times of need.

Help us to hold on to Your promise that You will never leave us nor forsake us. May Your presence be our comfort, Your guidance our hope, and Your love our strength.

Amen.
