Ignoring the Minor Attacks

Verse: 1 Samuel 10:27

"But some worthless fellows said, 'How can this man save us?' And they despised him and brought him no gifts. But he held his peace."

Saul, the newly appointed king of Israel, had just experienced the mighty hand of God in his life. He had been chosen by God to lead His people, and he was well aware of his own worthlessness. As he returned to his home in Gibeah, many people followed him, acknowledging his new role as king. However, not everyone was pleased with Saul's appointment. Some worthless men spoke out against him, despising him and refusing to bring him gifts.

But Saul chose to ignore their minor attacks. He knew that God had done great things in his life, and he didn't want to let the negative words of a few people bring him down. He held his peace, choosing instead to focus on the blessings and favor that God had bestowed upon him.

This is a valuable lesson for us today. When we know how great God's help is towards us, we can ignore the opposition we face. We don't have to let the negative words and actions of others bring us down. Instead, we can choose to focus on the blessings and favor that God has given us.

If we see our opposition as greater than God's blessings, then we are minimizing the greatness of God's help in our lives. We are forgetting that God is the one who has called us, equipped us, and empowered us to do great things. We are forgetting that God is the one who has given us the victory, and that He is the one who will help us overcome any obstacle.

As we face opposition and criticism in our lives, let us remember Saul's example. Let us choose to ignore the minor attacks and focus on the greatness of God's help towards us. Let us hold our peace, and let God be our defense.

When we do this, we will be able to stand strong in the face of adversity. We will be able to overcome any obstacle, and we will be able to achieve great things for God. We will be able to say, like Saul, "I know that God has done great things in my life, and I will not let the negative words and actions of others bring me down."

Prayer:

Dear God, help us to ignore the minor attacks and focus on the greatness of Your help towards us. Help us to remember Your blessings and favor in our lives, and to stand strong in the face of adversity. Give us the courage to hold our peace, and to let You be our defense. Amen.
