Rediscovering God's Flexible Will

Verse: Numbers 19:11 - "Whoever touches the dead body of anyone shall be unclean for seven days."

In Numbers 19, priests become ceremonially impure while preparing the sin sacrifice, raising a crucial question: Does God desire His priests to be impure? This instance clarifies that 90% of impurity mentioned in Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers is ceremonial, distinct from sin. Sin has a flexible definition, but God's laws are not burdensome. God's laws demonstrate flexibility and compassion, guiding us toward holiness.

Our distance from His will stems not from His laws, but from our own desires. We have strayed far, embracing sinful desires and distorting our perception of God's guidance. In our original nature, we were created to effortlessly obey God. Our proximity to Him allowed for seamless communion. However, sin has clouded our understanding, weakened our resolve, and made God's will seem burdensome.

Scripture reinforces: "God is love" (1 John 4:8), "God desires mercy, not sacrifice" (Matthew 9:13), and "His commandments are not burdensome" (1 John 5:3). As we reflect on this passage, may our hearts grasp God's flexible yet unyielding nature. May we recognize our true nature, designed for obedience and intimacy with God.

May we comprehend His laws as guidance, not burden. May we return to our original position, embracing God's flexible will with joy and freedom. May our lives reflect the ease and peace of obeying God, as intended in our original design.

Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for revealing Your flexible will. Help us recognize our distance from You stems from our own mistakes. Grant us wisdom to comprehend Your laws and reverence for Your holiness. May our lives reflect the freedom and joy of obeying Your will. Amen.
