Living in the Assurance of God’s Protection
Verse:2 Kings 6:16 "And Elisha prayed, 'Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.' Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."
Faith is not wishful thinking or a psychological crutch—it is the unshakable confidence that God works for those who walk in righteousness. When Elisha’s servant saw the enemy army surrounding them, he panicked. But Elisha, sure of God’s presence, prayed for his eyes to be opened—and the young man saw the heavenly army ready to fight for them. We may not always have our eyes opened to see God’s invisible forces at work, but if our hearts are right with Him, we can live with the same certainty: God is fighting for us.
The first step to victory is ensuring our connection with God is unbroken. He does not work in hidden, mysterious ways when His children are under attack. His nature is to defend the oppressed, to stand with the righteous, and to bring down the proud. When we face injustice—whether it is discrimination, oppression, or the scorn of those who consider us worthless—we must remember: God is on our side. His armies are not limited by what we see. The forces of heaven move when His people cry out.
The world may dismiss us as weak, insignificant, or powerless. But if we are walking in obedience to God, we must never mistake earthly appearances for heavenly reality. The downfall of the enemy is certain because God does not abandon His own. The key is knowing how God works—He does not ignore the cries of the oppressed. He does not remain silent when His people are treated unjustly. If we fail to understand this, we may live in fear rather than faith.
Elisha’s servant needed his eyes opened once, but Elisha already knew God was with him. That is the difference between trembling uncertainty and unshakable faith. We may not see chariots of fire, but we can be just as sure—if we are right with God, His deliverance is near.
Prayer:
Lord, open the eyes of our hearts to see Your presence even when the enemy seems overwhelming. Help us to walk in righteousness so that we never doubt Your defense. When injustice rises against us, remind us that You are a God who fights for the oppressed. Let us live not in fear of man, but in the unshakable confidence of Your protection. Amen.
